Hardy, heritage breeds

Our love for heritage breed animals started with the purchase of our first Bourbon Red turkeys in 2018. The differences in heritage breeds and the modern, commercial breeds of livestock grown for consumption today are quite staggering!

Heritage breed animals live long lives, maintain stronger parasite resistance, mate naturally (as opposed to being artificially inseminated), boast a rich taste and texture when butchered, and inherit sharp instincts from their ancestors.

Our small scale, outdoor, pasture raised systems are designed for the hardiness of yesteryear's livestock. Keeping our own herds and flocks of small breeding groups allows us to be truly self-sustaining and allows us to control all aspects of animal welfare from birth to sale or slaughter.
